Middle School/ High School Ministry

Welcome to Geneva Youth Ministry

Through events, activities, and discussions, the goal of Geneva’s youth ministry is to provide youth with experiences that will help them learn and develop their understanding of what it means to love and serve God. These events and activities are designed for the youth to feel completely accepted but challenged to grow in their faith at the same time. Our youth group consists of students in grades 6-12 and meets every other Sunday during the school year. Additionally, the youth participate in other planned events throughout the school year and summer. Through the various aspects of our youth ministry program we hope to fully integrate our youth into the life of the church.

Geneva offers opportunities for youth to participate in worship together, mission in the community, learn about being a Christian, and fellowship with each other. From autumn to spring we offer the following programs for Middle School and High School youth:

Sunday Morning Schedule
Every other Sunday at 9:00 am during the school year, youth gather for breakfast and adult-guided discussion in the Youth Room. Called Food for Thought, this is a time designed for the youth to learn about Christ and share thoughts and ideas with each other. This provides a safe place for middle schoolers and high schoolers to ask questions and deepen their understanding of what being a follower of Christ means.

Middle school and high school youth are encouraged to attend worship with their families after the Food for Thought program.

Fellowship
Designed as a time of fun and getting to know each other better, youth will gather both inside and outside the church to participate in activities such as playing games, watching movies, playing laser tag, and going to corn mazes, among other things. Other events include lock-ins, retreats, and Christian concerts. Fellowship activities will be scheduled throughout the year.

Service Opportunities
Geneva believes that service is a great way to spread God’s love to the community. Service opportunities include feeding the homeless, spending times at nursing homes, and Relay for Life. Our most important service event is Boxing Night, a night of raising awareness for homelessness by sleeping outside and collecting clothes that are later donated to Open Door Ministry in Detroit. Geneva’s youth pride themselves in being active members of the Plymouth-Canton community.

Mission Trips
From as far away as Washington DC to as close as Detroit, the youth of Geneva give up a week of their summer each year to selflessly serve communities in need. These mission trips present a terrific opportunity to leave behind distractions and focus on being Christ’s disciples. In addition, youth and adults are challenged to step outside their comfort zones and become more aware of the world around them. This is also a great time to create long-lasting friendships with youth from other churches as well as tighten bonds inside our own group. Mission trips are life-changing opportunities that are at the core of our youth group.

Ministry with Minors and Youth Permission Forms
Geneva Church has a Ministry with Minors Policy for all adults and teens working with children and youth. Parents must also complete an annual Youth Permission Form for youth to participate in activities outside of the church. For applications, forms and other information relating to this policy, please click here.
